Missi Roti

Among all the Indian dishes that are taken as breakfast Missi Roti is one of the main items. This Indian breakfast item is very popular because of the simplicity of the procedure to prepare it. This is also a healthy dish. That is why foreigners are also showing interest in this dish. Missi Roti is mainly taken as breakfast in the North Indian states. Missi Roti is very simple thing to prepare and that is why anyone can try his or her hand in this item.


All the ingredients that are needed to prepare this dish are easily available throughout all the major markets in the whole world. The ingredients that are required to prepare Missi Roti are as follows:

  • 2 Cups of Whole Wheat flour (this is known as “Atta” in India)
  • 2 Cups of Gram flour (which is known as Besan in India)
  • 1 Tea spoon of cumin seeds (this is known as Jeera in Indian markets)
  • 2 Table spoon of dry fenugreek leaves (known as Kasoori Methi)
  • Red chili powder
  • Salt
  • 1 Pinch of turmeric powder
  • 2 Table spoon of oil
  • Water


The procedure to prepare this dish is very simple. If you have arranged for all the ingredients, now it is time to cook the dish. The following steps are to be taken to prepare Missi Roti:

  • You have to mix Atta with salt, chili powder and turmeric powder as well and the mixing should be done in a well manner, for the taste depends on it.
  • The fenugreek leaves are powdered and they are mixed to the Atta.
  • Dough is to be prepared from the Atta and then it has to be kept inside a damp cloth.
  • Make balls from the dough.
  • All the balls have to be made into Chapathis and they must be a little bit thicker than the usual manner.
  • Missi Roti is cooked in oil. (it can also be cooked without oil as well, and you can use oven or Tandoor to cook them properly)
  • Missi Roti is ready to be served to the guests.
