Poha Roll

The reason for Indian dishes to be popular worldwide is because of that they are full of taste as well as they are healthy. Poha Roll is one of the main Indian breakfast dishes that are very popular in South India. Procedure to make this preparation is so simple that everyone can try their hands in preparing this. As Poha Roll is healthy as well as tasty, they are also favorite among the foreigners too. Poha Roll is also a great idea of dish that can be served to any guest coming to your house. Although being a South Indian dish, Poha Roll is also favorite to all the people of the other states.


All the ingredients that are needed for the preparation of this dish are easily available throughout all the major markets around the whole world. The required ingredients for preparation of Poha Roll are as follows:

  • 1 Egg
  • 30 gms of Poha (this means rice flakes in South India)
  • 100 gms of potato
  • 2 Green chillies
  • 20 gms of roasted peanuts
  • ¼ Tea spoon of Amchur (dry mango powder according to Indian languages)
  • ¼ Tea spoon of red chili powder
  • ¼ Tea spoon Garam Masala
  • 2 Table spoons of breadcrumbs
  • Salt to add to the taste of the food
  • A few Coriander leaves


The process of preparation of this dish is very simple. All the steps that are to be taken for preparation of Poha Roll are as follows:

  • You should boil, mash and peel the potatoes in a well manner.
  • Poha is taken in a strainer. The peanut has to roasted and coarsely grind.
  • Green chillies are taken to be chopped, and along with that the Coriander leaves are washed properly.
  • All kinds of spices, Coriander leaves are added to the mashed potatoes.
  • The mashed potatoes are to be rolled into any shape you want them to give.
  • Then they have to be taken and dipped into beaten egg. They are further coated with breadcrumbs.
  • After that they are taken to fry and frying has to be done till they get the golden brown color.
  • As now, Poha Roll is ready, they are to be served hot along with tamarind chutney.
