Banana Chutney

Banana Chutney is delicious and worth relishing with other food items. Chutney is a favorite food item, which can add spice to your food delight. Chutney can be taken along with other food and it makes the food extra delicious. Chutneys are made of strongly flavored ingredients including vegetables and fruits, which are available locally. The spices have a great role in chutney as it adds a special flavor and taste to it. Chutneys are sometimes taken fresh and you need not to add any preservatives to it. But in the western countries special preservatives like, lemon juice, vinegar and vegetable oils are added to it to make it last longer.

The ingredients required to make Banana Chutney are:

  • Bananas (Kela), ripe-6
  • Salt (Namak)- 3 teaspoons
  • Cinnamon (Dalchini) powder-1/8 teaspoon
  • Ground Cloves (Lavang)- 2
  • Vinegar (Sirka)- 3/4 cup
  • Red chili pepper (Lal Mirchi)- 1/2 teaspoon
  • Raisins (Kishmish)- 4 teaspoons
  • Blanched Almond (Badam)- 4 teaspoons
  • Sugar (Cheeni)- 1 1/2 cups
  • Big cardamoms (Elaichi Moti)- 2
Before making Banana Chutney take ripe bananas and peel it and chop it. After that, cook the chopped bananas with vinegar till it turns to a pulp. Then stir in sugar and let the sugar dissolve in it completely. Next, remove the pulp from fire and mix almonds, ground spices, salt, chili powder and raisins to it. Cool it for sometime and then put in an airtight container. The Banana Chutney becomes ready to serve after two days.
