Lemon Chutney is one of the most favorite of all chutneys. The chutneys are a favorite food item to most of all. Chutneys are taken usually with a lot of other food items and this adds some extra spice of the food delight. Chutneys made of local vegetables and fruits can make any kind of simple food item more enjoyable. The spices used in the chutneys give it an irresistible appeal and adds to its taste. Some of the most commonly used spices used in the chutneys are: cumin, fenugreek, hing (asafoetida) and coriander.

You can make lemon chutney at home by following our recipe of Lemon Chutney.
To make Lemon chutney you will need the following ingredients:
- Lemons (Nimbu)- 1/2 kg
- Salt (Namak)- 2 tablespoons
- Sugar (Cheeni) (2 cups heaped)- 250 grams
- Ground Big Cardamoms (Elaichi Moti)- 1/4 teaspoon
- Ground Cloves (Lavang)- 1/8 teaspoon
- Red chili pepper (Lal Mirchi)- 1 teaspoon
Before making Lemon chutney wash the lemons properly with water and wipe with a clan cloth. After that, squeeze out the juice of the lemons and add salt to it. In the next step, you have to cut long strips of lemon skins and soak it in the lemon juice and the whole thing has to b kept in a jar. The jar containing the lemon skin and lemon jar has to be kept under sun for a period of 6 days so that the lemon skins become tender. While putting the jar under sun you have to shake it every other day. After this, red chili pepper, sugar, cloves and cardamoms are added to the lemon and kept in the sun so that sugar gets completely dissolved in it. Now your Lemon Chutney is ready. It can be preserved if stored in an airtight container.
