Onion Chutney

Chutney is generally taken in the traditional Indian dishes as a side dish. Chutney is really very tasty and people like to have chutney at the end of their meal. Chutney also has its nutritional value. An essential ingredient of chutney is sugar which has good nutritional value. One can find different types of chutneys in an Indian retail shop. The different types of chutneys include mango chutney, pine-apple chutney, tamarind chutney and tomato chutney. Other than these, onion chutney is also a very popular chutney in India. Onion chutney is generally popular in the southern part of the country.


An interested buyer can buy onion chutney in an Indian retail shop. This chutney is also regularly prepared in the Indian household. The recipe of preparing onion chutney is very simple and it can often been prepared very easily in the household kitchen. The necessary ingredients of onion chutney include the following
Oil 1 tbsp
Brown sugar 1 tbsp
Salt according to the taste of the eater
Dry tamarind 1 small piece
Urad dal 2 tbsp
Mustard seed 1 tbsp
Red chillies (dry) 2 nos
Green chillies 2 nos
Onions big 1no




Method of making onion chutney

Onions should be chopped first. Heat the oil in a pan and add 1 tsp of urad dal and chillies. Onions and salt are to be mixed after that. Fry the mixture until all the ingredients mixed properly. Smell of onion will come if the mixture is mixed properly. Let the mixture be cooled. Tamarind and brown sugar to be mixed with the mixture after this. The mixture of tamarind and brown sugar is to be grind so that a fine paste of these two things can be made. The mixture is to be seasoned with 1 tsp of urad dal and 1 tsp of mustard oil.

Onion chutney is now prepared to be enjoyed either with dhosa or rice.
