South Indian Chutney

Chutney is a very popular dish in India. People of almost all Indian states like to enjoy chutney as a side dish. There are many kinds of chutneys one may find in India. Popular Indian chutney include tomato chutney, pine-apple chutney, mango chutney and tamarind chutney. Chutney is also very popular in the southern part of India. Chutney in South India is generally made of chilies and coconut. People regularly take this food as a part of their meal. Without chutney the meal of the South Indian people remains incomplete. South Indian Chutney is both sweet and spicy. South Indian Chutney is best enjoyable with dhosa. This may also be taken with rice and chapati. South Indian Chutney is also very nutritious and easily digestible.


Ingredients of the South Indian Chutney
Whole mustard 2 tea spoons
Fresh coconut 1 piece
Green chillies 10 pieces
Ghee 4 tea spoons
Chana dal 120grms




Process of making South Indian Chutney
This food can easily be prepared in an ordinary kitchen. This can be made using microwave or the conventional oven. Chana dal and green chilies are to be fried until the mixture of these two takes the light brown color. Stir the mixture again and again on the pan. Grind the coconut to be used in recipe. Grind coconut is to be made very fine so that it mixes with the fried dal and chilies properly. If all these ingredients are properly mixed the chutney will get its mouthwatering taste. The seeds of whole mustard is to be fried to be used in chutney. The fried mustard seeds and salt according to your taste are to be mixed with the mixture already on the frying pan. 1 tea spoon of ghee is to be mixed with this mixture. After two minutes' frying, the South Indian Chutney is ready to be eaten with dhosa or rice.
