Butter Cookies

Cookies are very favorite in India for their delicious taste. Other than their taste the cookies are also very popular for their nutritional value. Cookies made of carbohydrate and fat offer good calorie value. These are also very easily digestible foods. Indian retail food shops showcased different types of cookies for sale. The interested buyers may buy the packaged cookies hygienically prepared and hygienically preserved. Among the Indian cookies, cookies made of sesame, butter and chocolate are very favorite among the masses. Butter cookies made of butter and almonds offer delicious taste to the gourmets.


Ingredients of butter cookies

Blanched almond halves
1 teaspoon baking powder
Dash salt
2 cups of all purpose flower sifted or stirred before measuring
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup sugar
1cup butter



Preparation of butter cookies

Cream butter and sugar will be mixed and should be beaten until the mixture becomes fluffy and light. Flower, salt and baking powder are to be sifted together. The mixture of the dry ingredients is to be stirred in the butter mixture. All these ingredients are to be mixed until these are mixed properly. The malt produced will now be used for making dough of very little ball shapes. The doughs produced are now to be placed in the shape of balls on the ungreased cookie sheets. The half of an almond is now be placed on the top of each ball. The balls thus produced are to baked at 300o C . This baking should run for 20 minutes until the balls become lightly brown. One can make 5 to 6 dozens of butter cookies at a time.

There is also a slight variation of this method of preparing butter cookies. Extract of almond and vanilla may be mixed with the mixture for making butter cookies. Some people also like to sprinkle a little sugar in this mixture.
