Dal Maharani

Dal Maharani is a delicious food that caters to the gastronomic desires of the foodies.
Dal Maharani is one of the most popular food items of India.

Indian cuisine includes a lot of palatable preparation of pulses.
Pulses form an integral part of Indian diet
Pulses can be cooked in a variety of ways. The Indian preparation of pulses taste delicious when it is taken with roti(Indian bread prepared with wheat).

The various types of pulses are nutritious because of their rich protein content. A wide variety of pulses are available in India like moong, urad, chana etc.


Ingredients of Dal Maharani:

The ingredients that are required for cooking Dal Maharani are as follows:

  • 1/4 cup Urad Pulse
  • 1/4 cup Rajma
  • 1/4 cup Chana Pulse
  • 2 Tomatoes
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 3 Green chillies
  • 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • Coriander leaves
  • Salt
  • Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Butter
  • 1 Onion
  • 1/4 cup Cream
  • 1 Ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon Mustard seeds


Procedure of preparation of Dal Maharani:

Rajma, chana and urad pulses is kept under water for 8 hrs.
The mixture of chana pulse, urad pulse and rajma is cooked in the pressure cooker.

Mustard seeds and cumin seeds are fried using butter in the frying- pan.

Ginger and chillies are added to the mixture. The mixture is fried till a splashing sound is heard.

The mixture is fried for 3 minutes by adding tomatoes and onion.

Turmeric powder,red chili powder and salt are added to the mixture and mixed thoroughly.

The pulp like state of the pulse is mixed with the aforementioned mixture and heated for 3 minutes

Leaves of coriander and cream are added to the pulse before serving it piping hot.

Dal Maharani is a very delicious preparation. It tastes palatable when it is savored with roti (Indian bread made from wheat).
