Manchmel Daal

Ingredients for preparation of Manchmel Daal:

  • 4 teaspoon coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoon Vegetable Oil
  • 2 Onions
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 175 grams Yellow Split Peas
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
  • 45gms Yellow Mung Beans
  • 2 teaspoon garlic
  • 2 teaspoon smashed ginger
  • 3 tomatoes
  • 45 grams Red Lentils
  • 90 grams White Gram Beans
  • 2 tablespoon Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin Seed
  • 2 green chilies


Procedure of preparation of Manchmel Daal:

The beans are cleaned with water. The beans are kept in a container to which half a teaspoon of turmeric powder and half liter of water are added.

The mixture is heated for 30 minutes. The container should not be fully covered while cooking.

Salt is added to the cooked pulse.

About 4 to 6 tablespoon of oil is heated. Onion is added to the warm oil and fried for 15 minutes. Chilies, ginger and garlic are added to the fried onions. Tomatoes are then added and cooked for a period of 5 minutes till it a brown color comes.

The fried stuffs from the frying container are then added to cooked pulse and heated by adding a little bit of butter.

2 tablespoon of oil is added to the frying pan and heated. Paparika,cumin and cayenne is added to the heated oil.

The ingredients of the frying pan are transferred to to the cooked pulse.
The mixture is mixed and a little bit of butter is added.
Manchmel Daal is served with paprika and coriander leaves.
The taste of Manchmel Daal enhances when taken with roti.
Roti is Indian bread prepared from wheat.
