Aam Ka Achar

Aam Ka Achar is a delicious pickle of mango.

Mangoes are popularly known as Aam in India. Mangoes are very delicious fruits. The taste of the mangoes that are mixed with pickles enhance the taste of mango pickles.


Aam Ka Achar is liked by people of all age groups. Children and old people like to savor Aam Ka Achar.
Aam Ka Achar is a delicacy that is immensely popular in India.
The pickles can be made from lemons,cauliflower,onion,carrot,ladyfinger, red chili,turnip etc.

Mangoes are available during summer in India. Most of the Indian families purchase huge quantities of mangoes during summer. The mangoes are used to prepare pickles.

Ingredients of Aam Ka Achar:

  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 575 grams sugar
  • 2 teaspoon brown cardamom seeds
  • 1 tablespoon white cumin seeds
  • 1teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 675 grams green mangoes


Procedures for preparation of Aam Ka Achar:

The skin of the mangoes are removed and smashed. About 450 grams of mangoes should be taken.
Sugar and salt are added to the smashed mangoes.
Cardamom seeds, poppy seeds and cumin seeds are mixed with chili powder and heated. The mixture is added to the smashed mangoes.
The content is then poured in a glass container that has been disinfected by boiling.
The pickle in the container is exposed to the sun for 7 days.
After the the 7th day, the pickle is ready for consumption.
It is advisable to shake the bottle of mango pickles everyday.
