Bengali food is famous for its wide range of varieties. Bengali food is prepared by the people of Est Bengal. The style of the food and the method of preparing it is unique. The traditional Bengali food is very delicious and requires bit of effort to prepare. Like the rich culture and tradition of west Bengal, Bengali food is also very rich and reflects the state's culture. Bengali food offers wide range of choice. Ingredients: 4 tblsp poppy seeds (khuskhus),1/2 tsp onion seeds (kalonji),5 - 6 medium potatoes, 2 tblsp mustard oil, 2 green chillies, 1 tsp pure ghee, 1/2 tsp sugar and salt to taste.

Preparation: Peel the potatoes and cut it into one inch pieces and keep them in water. Soak the poppy seeds in warm water for twenty minutes. Then drain it of and grind it to a fine paste. Heat up a mustard oil in a pan till the smoke come out. Once the oil becomes medium hot mix kalonji and fry. Then mix the pieces of potato and fry in a medium heat for a couple of minutes. After this mix the poppy seed paste, mix it in a one glass water. Cover the dish and fry it on low heat till the potatoes are cooked. Take off the lid and add salt, sugar and green chillies. Continue to stir for further couple of minutes an then put ghee and stir well. Serve the dish hot and enjoy.
